12-3-10, UT vs. TX State

Texas State is coming to town Friday night for a match against UT at the Intramural Fields, located at the corner of Guadalupe and 51st St. The match starts at 7:00. AAHS alumni Jacob Wiley and Steven Timmons are playing for TX State, along with Evan van zur Muehlen from Westlake HS, and have started off their season by winning the Ruggerfest in Nacogdoches. AAHS Alumni Greg Hesch is playing with UT, and I think there might be more of our boys playing with them, but don’t know who they are until Friday. UT is coming off an early season win over Texas Tech, and are looking to get back into the hunt for the playoffs under new coach Butch Neuenschwander. Hope to see you there.

12-4-10, Austin Rugby Hosts Bay Area RFC

The Austin Blacks will play a Friendly this Saturday against Bay Area.  The match is at 2:00pm at Burr Field.

Blacks vs. Fort Worth Results

Last weekend,  November 13th, a Blacks combined 1^st/2^nd XV dismantled Ft. Worth RFC 40-7  at Burr Field – half-time score 25-0.  The Blacks scored 7 trys, 1 conversion and 1 penalty kick to a single converted try for Ft. Worth.

This Saturday, Nov.20, the Blacks travel to the Woodlands for two matches against The Woodlands RFC – 1^st XV match kicks off at 3:00 followed by 2^nd XV at 4:30.  The match is at Alden Bridge Park (directions on their web-site at http://www.woodlandsrugby.com/INDEX.html under link to MAPS).

Meanwhile, Mark Brewerton, Kirk Risha, and I are meeting former Blacks Irish John Sadlier and Paddy Callow in Dublin on Saturday for the All Blacks/Ireland test match.

11-13-10, Austin Rugby Hosts Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Rugby Club will be in town this weekend for a 2:00 kickoff Saturday against the Blacks.  Head Coach Lachlan Ferguson has the Blacks steadily improving and will continue to build depth in the program by giving two full sides equal minutes on Saturday.  The Blacks won’t have another home match until early December, so come on out and enjoy a few refreshments Saturday afternoon at Burr Field – 6013 Loyola Lane.
